Dhaka University Reading Club: A Brief Introduction

Dhaka University Reading Club was formed in 2011 with the aim to jerk the declining knowledge culture of University of Dhaka and Bangladesh as a broad canvass.
We consider First National Professor Abdur Razzak, Ahmad Sofa, Ahmad Sharif, Humayun Azad, Abul Hosen as our principal source of inspiration.

We organize weekly session on Thursday evening at Senate Building, DU. Our session run for 119 minutes where the key speaker gets 40 minutes. After his/her speech the floor is open for all participants whom we consider our main speakers!

In our session we appreciate comments/opinions rather than questions on the notion, no refute of anybody's statement is allowed except the point of Information. The philosophy behind this practice is that we want our young generation to think in depth and make them aware that each problem has a solution & probably more than one.

A facebook group is created to serve the purpose of informing regular updates and sharing reading experiences among readers in continuation of our sessions and regular activities, hence, creating new discourses.

Please don't post anything irrelevant to DURC in this group & violation will be resulted on banning, both temporary and permanent.

This club is a platform to unite as many serious readers can so that we can share our reading methods, reading experiences and the problem we face while reading.
We've arranged "Abdur Razzak Shoron Shova" on November, 2013 for the third time where Honorable Finance Minister Dr. Abul Mal Abdul Muhit was present along with luminous guests like Dr. Hossen Zillur Rahman, ex adviser to the Caretaker Government, Monsur Musa, ex-Director of Bangla Academy and Abul Khair Litu, the Chairman of Bengal Group and many more.

We had our 100th lecture with Nobel Laureate Dr. Yunus on February 3, 2014.

We are very happy to inform you that DURC is going to organize 'National Young Intellectual Conference (NYIC)' in the last week of November (possible date is 27/28/29 Nov). We want to bring maximum representatives from the maximum universities across the country. There will be series of lectures on diverse topics and issues from different university students across the country and hopefully there will be some international guests as well from our neighboring countries.

The participants will give 25 minutes lecture (probable). Those who are interested to join in this greatest young intellectual conference of the country are requested to submit their name sooner. And the complete lecture note or lecture outline. Every university will surely be allowed to give one representative at least, the more the better.

Reading Club is a way of living. Everybody can be a part of this think tank organization. Just join our ADDA and regular sessions.  After being associated with DURC it is expected from you that you read regularly at least 50 pages beyond newspaper.

We, the regular members actually vie with each other in passing more time in the Central Library and Public Library. We like to come to library at 8 am in the morning when the library open and like to stay up to the last bell that is at 9 (8.45) pm at night. We attend classes from library. After the class we come back to library again. We also have our tea together and adda after 4 pm. Our adda usually go for 2 hours. It is not quite mandatory that one should stay whole hours. If anybody has exams, class or anything serious to do he/she can leave the adda easily.

Actually there is no bindings there rather than intellectual bindings we are attached with which force us to stay together!

You are welcome to the way of reading club.
